carne mountain and glacier peak wilderness

A sort-of-funny irony about Glacier Peak Wilderness on the hike up Carne Mountain is I didn’t enter it until I’d basically reached the very top of this Entiat peak. On the way up, I passed through a hanging basin that’s home to one of the world’s largest subalpine larches. I scanned the basin for any sign of an unusually tall tree but didn’t see any that struck me as outstanding compared to the others.
