the trail to stiletto peak’s old fire lookout
Out of curiosity, this afternoon I checked the North Cascades National Park web site for trail conditions to Stiletto Peak right now. There’s some fast water to cross early on that could spell trouble for plodders and snow starts gradually at the 6,200 foot level (the site of the old fire lookout on Stiletto is 7223 feet).
Here’s a view from the old fire lookout on Stiletto. Funny how in b/w the scene resembles a mountainous desert backcountry.
I walked up the hill today to pick Adam up from preschool, I took his scooter with me (the scooter was a going-away present from Grandma Shukis). He’s catching on fast. Too fast. Making me nervous. “Watch me, Papa!”
We met Orchid the Chihuahua and Neko the Jack Russell Terrier on the way home. Orchid was one of the sweetest Chihuahuas I’ve met in my life. Normally, chihuahuas are either shivering or acting like they want to chainsaw your head off.
