the pacific crest trail and mount adams
This is a sample of the night last week when I hiked into timberline below Old Snowy. This is a view looking south toward hulking Mt. Adams. There’s a 1,000 acre wildfire (it’s being referred to as the Cascade Creek Fire) down there as of the last couple days. Makes me wonder how smoky this view is now- after all, Adams is just 18 miles away as the crow flies.
On the very far right of the frame…..an itty bitty view of St. Helens. And by the way, the silvery dot you barely see where the trees give way to meadowland is a signpost marking the junction between the PCT and the Snowgrass Flat trail.
I haven’t done an awful lot of hiking this summer, but my timing has been halfway decent in terms of seeing pretty wildflowers!
The last picture I took on this trip, the standard issue warm welcome of the wilderness area sign. I spotted this one just before I returned to Berry Patch (one of the two trailheads for Snowgrass Flats).
