the lightness of autumn

I almost went up to the mountains yesterday but decided against it because I wanted to be in the kitchen making breakfast for Adam when Oliver Fern woke up so I could dash upstairs to get him out of bed and open the blinds and show him the sun rising over Vesper Peak…..

This picture was taken while I was in the nasty slot gully en route to Headlee Pass and Vesper Peak. Glacier Peak, a 10,000 foot volcano in roadless wilderness, is in the distance beyond all the ridges.
