Stickeen: John Muir and the Brave Little Dog

This finely illustrated and well-narrated true story about John Muir and the dog Stickeen also happened to be one of Muir’s personal favorites to tell. Adam has requested Stickeen: John Muir and the Brave Little Dog (Dawn Publications, 1998- by Donnell Rubay and Christopher Canyon) several times the past couple days, he’s fascinated by the story. I’m so pleased whenever we find a book that positively grips him! And obviously, I’m excited he’s now familiar with who John Muir is. Stickeen: John Muir and the Brave Little Dog has rocketed to the top of the Tyrannosaurus Fir Reading List. I have a feeling it will remain a classic in our household for the next few years. It was a coincidence, over the past weekend we read a couple other books about dogs. Another one was about Libby Riddles, the first woman to win the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race in Alaska.
