hailstorm strikes seattle

A relentless cloudburst of hail showered (pelleted?) Capitol Hill this afternoon for ten minutes, at least. Apparently, the brief storm caused temporary traffic jams on major roadways across the city. We were happy to watch the spectacle from the comfort of our front porch.

Nothing much else happened today. Before lunchtime we took the boys to Pacific Antiques Mall (our first time) in Sodo, on Lander Street. Whoa. It was a terrifically fun place to window-shop. That’s about all we could do- the prices are generally quite big-timey. While we were there getting out of our car, a presumably mentally ill homeless man stopped nearby to scream at us that he hated Volvos because they are foreign crap.

  1. It’s like winter in spring, what fun! On Saturday I hiked a short portion of the North Fork of the Skokomish. A heavy downpour passed overhead and what started as rain quickly turned into a rain/snow mix – before long there were portions of the trail dusted white with snow.
