Honopu Ridge and the yummy muffins at Keoki’s Paradise, which surprisingly, I’d completely forgotten about

A couple years ago I went on quite possibly the wettest, mistiest walk of my lifetime down Honopu Ridge. Rain collected in places on me I didn’t realize could contain measurable amounts of water and I think we can agree such a declaration borders on hyperbole since I hail from the wet side of the Pacific Northwest. The memory of fog swirling and swooping through stunted koa trees is burned like braille in my mind. The musty smell of the woods from that morning is something I’ll never forget to the end of my days. And here I returned this morning and added ever more layers to my impressions of this place on the Na Pali coast of Kauai. It was an incredibly rewarding way to bookend our visit, we leave for Seattle tomorrow afternoon.

We took the boys to Keoki’s Paradise tonight for dinner. I forgot about their yummy little carrot muffins.
