I’m not done sharing from the south fork Stilly but I felt the need to calm down the startling greenness of the forest views from Saturday with a black and white image- then it dawned on me even more than usual that the new banner at the top of my site must seem like “clash-city” not to mention utterly infantile so what is a little phosphorescent moss? Haha! At any rate, for years I’ve wanted to document this nearly 300 foot falls during a prolonged cold spell, when mist coats the rock walls behind with thick layers of ice. This is from a few weeks ago and the conditions were probably not as good as it gets, but there was more than enough ice for enjoyable shooting in isolation. I thought the first exposure I shared should present a wider view of the falls. Isn’t it odd how perspective is strained, here? It certainly doesn’t strike me at all as looking like a 268 foot waterfall.
This is a 15 second exposure with a 6 stop ND filter.
