Having progressed through the first few chapters of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe with Adam this week, I thought an icy scene from Narnia (that is, the Cascade foothills) would set a proper tone for this evening. This was a 25 second exposure with a six stop neutral density filter covering the lens. I have a handful of other shots that are better compositionally but I went with this one for the moment since it required the least amount of cloning out of dust spots, haha! On the other hand, I ordinarily prefer the diffuse, cloudy quality of the extra-long, long exposure……
The boys and I have been basically on our own this week since Sunday. Oliver and I’ve been hitting the books hard. He has turned a major corner- he’s officially a junior bibliophile! All he wants to do these days is read, read, read.
When I read The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe as a boy, not knowing better at the time I imagined Turkish Delight as akin to the little foil-wrapped Brach Royals (they’re caramel soft candies). I haven’t had Royals probably since I was a boy…….
